Free Crappy Portraits

Send any picture you want immortalized by one of our terrible artists. If you can't decide, send us a couple to choose from — though you will only get one drawing from us in return. All we ask is that you please try to keep the overall file size under 5 megabytes.

It is highly recommend that you tell us something about you or whoever else is in the photo. We get so many submissions that the more interesting or detailed the description is, the more likely it will be chosen to get drawn. A photo on it's own just usually isn't enough. If you can't think of anything to say about yourself, get creative! Send us a list of your favorite cheeses, a tale about the ever-elusive Sasquatch, or a haiku about roller disco — we aren't picky.

And we know you have lots of friends or family and might want to send us photos with giant groups of people. To be honest, none of us really like drawing groups of more than 6 people. They tend to get pushed to the side. Why not just tell your friends or family about us instead and have them get their own portraits?

Also, we don't mind making your photo link to your blog, your favorite cause, or whatever you like. Make sure to include it in your submission!

Then e-mail your photo to:

Give us somewhere between one and a million days to draw your portrait. Sorry, I wish we could give you a better estimate, but most of us here have jobs and stuff. If you're desperate and need it sooner, let us know and we can work something out.

In the meantime, why not join our ranks of regular artists? All skill levels are more than welcome!

After your drawing is completed and scanned, we will email it to you. Feel free to do whatever you want with it! We are also more than happy to do special requests, such as birthday cards or event posters — just send us the details!

One of our most frequently asked questions is "When will my picture go up on your website?" That's a little more complicated. We do SO MANY portraits a week that we're pretty backlogged with drawings to post. We're sorry about that, but there really isn't much we can do about it. However, we tend to show preferential treatment to people who send us back an email saying thanks or a link to kind words on their blog. Why is that? Well, we draw hundreds of portraits a month and it's always nice to feel a bit validated about spending our free time doing this. So if you really want to see your picture posted sooner rather than later, that's the way to do it.
